Year 6 Jorvik Viking Workshop

Year 6 Jorvik Viking Workshop

Year 6 recently had the opportunity to have an online workshop with guides from the Jorvik Centre in York. This was part of their history topic of the Vikings.

“This month, Year 6 got the chance to do an online workshop with members of the Jorvik Centre in York. In the first session, we got to see what life was really like for Vikings. We learnt about what Viking clothing was and different jobs Vikings did. We also discussed what trading was like. It was a great opportunity to learn a lot about the Vikings in addition to our lessons.”

“During the second activity, Year 6 engaged in a fun lesson about archaeology in the Viking times. Our guide showed us many fun activities and items that were used in the Viking days. One of the funnier items he showed us was a replica of a poo that was excreted during the Viking times. Our guide also showed us an image taking in the 200s of an excavation site that was searching for any Viking artefacts that could be dug up from the ground. This Google Meet with the Jorvik Centre in York was great and I think you should visit the centre!”
