Year 5 History – The Golden Age of Islam

Year 5 History – The Golden Age of Islam

In Year 5, we have been learning about the Golden Age of Islam. We compared their scientific discoveries to those of the Romans and thought about which might have been the most significant.

“I think the welfare state was the most significant discovery because it made sure even the poorest families were able to have healthcare. Not only that, they set up soup kitchens to feed the poor. Even though education is important, I believe that it is more important that everyone, rich or poor, has access to food and healthcare.”

Rosie, Year 5

“I think that the Islamic Golden Age contributed to science because astronomy wasn’t understood but during that time, they developed a method for telling the time and setting the date.”
