Year 5 Geography Fieldtrip

River field trip

Year 5 Geography Fieldtrip

During early October, Year 5 had the chance to do some geography fieldwork at Epping Forest’s river, Loughton Brook. The journey, which was short and bumpy, included the branches of the trees hitting the roof of the bus to much excitement!

Pupils looked at different soil types and as in the photograph used equipment to measure the width of the river and the gradient. Because of this summer’s dry weather, there was little water in the river but this did not stop the pupils from learning and having fun.

“Churchfields children were very eager to learn,” said our guide, James.
