Year 3 at Walthamstow Wetlands

Year 3 at Walthamstow Wetlands

Year 3 recently travelled to Walthamstow Wetlands to learn about habitats. Read on as Year 3 describe their adventures! (All creatures were returned safely to their habitats after the children had studied them.)

“When we got to Walthamstow Wetlands we met our guide Jane and she gave us a tour around. We saw geese and other birds. Jane answered our questions and then we went pond dipping! Some of the other groups went bug catching, which my group did later on.”

By Antonio, Year 3

“When we got there I was so excited! We went pond dipping and I caught three pond skaters and two baby newts. We also caught an older newt (a teenager!) and a few other bugs that I have never seen before. I even found a giant spider under a piece of wood and an orange ladybird. We then hunted for different flowers and we found many different types.”

By Molly, Year 3

“I liked when we explored the wetlands looking for animals. I found lots of ladybirds. I told my partner they were little baby ladybirds. We looked at the ladybirds very closely – they were beautiful!”
