Who We Are

We are a group of Churchfields pupils who are passionate about finding out more about what is happening in our local community, country and the wider world. There are many topics that have piqued our interest already, such as Brexit, climate change and the many national and global sporting events taking place this year. We feel that there are many important issues in the news today that many children may be unaware of and we see it as our job to ensure that they do.

What We Do

Lead by Ms Hawkins, we meet once a week to share, watch and discuss news reports that we find interesting. We then report back to our classes via the News Screen displayed in school, verbally in class and in our monthly Newsletter. Keep your eyes peeled to find out more about current topics!

Make a Difference

• We inform children in our school about current local, national and global topics in the news

• We promote good causes – sometimes alongside our Pupil Leadership Groups – such as trying to eliminate single use plastics, based on the new stories that we see

• We create new articles for the school’s Newsletter to ensure that our wider community is aware of a range of issues and current topics

• We seek to encourage others to take an interest in the news and the wider world
