Maths – Times Table Parent Workshop

Maths – Times Table Parent Workshop

Year 4 Times table workshops have begun this month and it has been great collaborating with parents on how best to support our pupils in their journey towards being successful mathematicians. The emphasis of the workshop was around being fluent in multiplication and division facts and why they are so important. Secure knowledge in times tables is needed to access almost all areas of mathematics at KS2 and KS3 and therefore it is important that we ensure all pupils finish year 4 knowing their facts up to 12 x 12.

Outside of the classroom, one of the most effective ways pupils can continue to practise their times tables is by accessing Times Table Rockstars. Just like reading regularly with an adult at home, practising times table facts, using TTRS, is a great way for pupils to continue developing their fluency at home. We encourage all pupils to access the ‘Garage’ section, which will test them on facts that they are not yet fluent in.

If you would like to sign up for the parent workshops, please get in touch with the school office. Do not worry if you have missed your child’s session, as you can be added on to another class workshop.

Regarding any additional queries around mathematics, please get in touch with the school office, or Mr Webster or your pupil’s class teacher in the playground.
