London Pride

London Pride

On Saturday 2nd of July 2022, my family went to London Pride. London Pride is when people celebrate and march for LGBTQ+ people. LGBTQ+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer.

I woke up early in the morning to get ready, we caught a train to meet with my mum’s work colleagues before the march. We marched with the charity called Families Together London. This charity supports families with LGBT children. I think it is important to do this march because LGBTQ+ people do not have many rights, and by doing what I am doing is giving them their equality that they want.

The roads were closed and spectators were allowed to watch the parade either side of the road. They were holding up signs and LGBT flags. Wearing really colourful clothes and had glitter on their faces. I also wore a colourful dress and had glitter on my face, showing a rainbow flag. We marched through central London for 1 hour. During the parade, I played with bubble guns, balloon columns and many different flags. I was shy at first because I haven’t met most of my mum’s work friends. This event was very fun and enjoyable, so this was an exciting, delightful day for me!
