Lara’s Swimming Competition

Lara’s Swimming Competition

Lara, from Year 5, shares her recent success in swimming:

“I competed in a swimming competition at Basildon Sporting Village in Essex.

On Sunday 16th April, my dad drove me to Essex, it was a 30-minute journey.  I went inside the venue and saw many people; I got ready then entered the pool. The pool was 25m long. This was my second gala (swimming competition) but I was still nervous.

My first race was 200m (8 lengths) breaststroke. I was really exhausted after my race but my effort paid off, I won a silver medal for being second in my age group. I also did 100m backstroke, 100m breaststroke and 50m front crawl. I came 8th in one race and 7th in the others.

I got a few PBs (Personal Best), the best one was the front crawl it was 10 seconds better!

I am proud I did this, all my hard work in training prepared me well for the competition. I am thrilled to have a medal and I am definitely looking forward to the next one.”
