Endpoints – Science

Endpoint Sheets detail the learning objectives that are taught within each given unit and subject. These objectives show what pupils must know, remember and be able to do to meet the Expected Standard in each unit.

 

Key vocabulary relevant to each unit is also included in order to promote the use of Tier 3 vocabulary across the curriculum.

Assessment in science follows a prescribed process of delivery

Endpoint Sheets are stuck into pupils’ books at the beginning of each unit and referenced throughout the unit.

 

In each lesson pupils assess whether they have met the success criteria for each learning objective on the L.O. strip stuck into their books.

 

in each lesson teachers provide their own assessments by ticking the relevant box against each success criteria in the ‘Teacher Assessment. column of the L.O. strip.

At the beginning of the unit

  • Pupils stick an Endpoint Sheet in their book
  • Pupils take part in a knowledge-based retrieval lesson whereby they interact with the Knowledge Organiser and text book for that unit

Throughout the unit

  • Pupils engage with and draw knowledge from the Knowledge Organiser and relevant text book
  • Pupils take part in Spaced Learning activities
  • Pupils take part in Self-Quizzing activities
  • Pupils and teachers assess knowledge and understanding by actioning the Learning Objectives Strip in the pupil’s book
