Churchfields Crowned Champions of Redbridge

Churchfields Crowned Champions of Redbridge

Congratulations to the Football Team.  They were crowned champions of Redbridge today and now go on to represent their borough in the London youth Games Finals.

The Year 6 team travelled to Mayfield High and joined 13 other Junior schools, as they battled to see who would win the honour of representing Redbridge at the London Youth Games Football Finals to be hosted at Redbridge Sports Centre.

Due to a lapse in concentration, the boys suffered a rare loss in their opening group game at the hands of rivals Aldersbrook.

This would only mean one thing; Churchfields would now come back stronger and more determined to win all their group matches…and they did just that beating Manford 2-0, Nightingale 4-0, Chadwell 3-0 and Loxford 3-0.

This set up a quarter final clash against Goodmayes Primary. After the earlier slip up, the team were back to their usual best and cruised in to the semi final with a 4-0 win. Nightingale were up next and fought hard, but Churchfields were on a mission to get to the Final to play their arch rivals..Aldersbrook.

Churchfields looked, calm, composed and competitive, keeping the game plan very simple, playing some sleek and skilful football.

The boys came out much deserved winners, with a cool 2-1 victory and are now on their way to the London Finals!
