Baking Bread with Year 4

This term, Year 4’s design and technology topic has been the history of sandwiches and bread, with a focus on types of bread, the variety of ingredients and how to make the perfect loaf. On the day of baking, the children excitedly washed their hands, rolled up their sleeves, donned their aprons and began the rewarding process of making and baking bread.

 

As each class mixed, kneaded and rolled their dough, they recalled the purpose of each ingredient, the importance of getting air into the mixture, and how to produce the perfect dough. Their dough was put into the ovens and the lovely smell of freshly baked bread wafted throughout our school!
