This month Year 6 had the incredible opportunity to experience kayaking and raft building at the activity centre at Fairlop Waters. It was a great opportunity for pupils to practice a range of skills in preparation for their residential visit to Rhos Y Gwaliau.
During the kayaking, pupils were able to develop their skills with an oar, as well as their balance and coordination to try and not capsize. Raft-building was the perfect scenario for pupils to show their collaboration and communication, in order to build a lake-worthy vessel.
It was a brilliant day and if pupils are interested in doing more water based activities there are many workshops and lessons available during the May half-term and summer holidays at Fairlop Waters.
A big thank you to all parents who helped out on the trip, because without your support we would not be able to do these wonderful experiences for the children.
‘It was a fantastic day and it was so much fun! It was challenging and encouraged us to work as a team.’ James, Year 6
