Self Assessment – PSHCE

Self assessment sheets detail the learning objectives that are taught within each given unit and subject. These objectives are separated into those required to meet the Expected Standard and those necessary to meet the Higher Standard. Separating the objectives in this way enables pupils to clearly identify what it is that they need to know in order to meet the expected or higher standard in each unit.

 

Key vocabulary relevant to each unit is also included in order to promote the use of Tier 3 vocabulary across the curriculum.

Assessment in PSHCE follows a prescribed process of delivery

Self assessment sheets are stuck into pupils’ books at the beginning of each unit and referenced throughout the unit. Under ‘Self’, Pupils assess whether they feel they are working towards (), have met () or have exceeded () an objective.

 

Teachers provide their own assessment by ticking the relevant box under ‘Teacher Assessment’.

At the beginning of the unit

  • Pupils stick a Self-Assessment Sheet in their book
  • Pupils take part in a knowledge-based retrieval lesson whereby they interact with the Knowledge Organiser and text book for that unit

Throughout the unit

  • Pupils engage with and draw knowledge from the Knowledge Organiser and relevant text book
  • Pupils take part in Spaced Learning activities
  • Pupils take part in Self-Quizzing activities
  • Pupils and teachers assess knowledge and understanding by actioning the Self-Assessment Sheets in the pupils book

At the end of the unit

  • Pupils complete an End of Unit Assessment
    Teachers to input RAW scores on Foundation Trackers
