Reading leads you to an adventure on every page
‘Reading leads you to an adventure on every page, with no limits to where you can go and what you can achieve,’ B B Taylor.
It is absolutely our intention at Churchfields, to give every pupil the time to continue (or even begin) the incredibly important habit of picking up a book and develop their love of reading for pleasure. This is why we have introduced daily reading every morning when pupils arrive at school. Staff can talk to pupils about what book they are reading and this is the time of day pupils collect reading passport stamps for books parents have signed to confirm they have finished reading. There are, of course, a myriad of opportunities for our pupils to read but we think this is a great way to start the day. Please aim for your child to get to school by 8:40 each day. Our librarian is now in the library from 8:40 every day and has reported swarms of children arriving each morning to change their books.
If you watch the video we posted on our school twitter on Sept 24th https://twitter.com/churchfieldsjs/status/912072100906708992you can see the library in action. If you have yet to discover our twitter feed please search for @churchfieldsjs.
