Newshounds

Who We Are

We are pupils from each year group at Churchfields Junior School who are passionate to find out about the wider world. We have a keen interest in geography and aim to investigate news in our own country and beyond. We meet once a week to discuss what we have heard in the news at home, in our lessons and present our findings to the whole school.

What We Do

Under the leadership of Miss Cooper, the Newshounds watch interest clips from the news and read newspapers together to collect pieces of information about a number of different geographical issues. We endeavour to find out more about natural disasters and their impact, how different people live and what their culture is like. We enjoy feeding back our findings in news style bulletins to our classes and in school assemblies!

Make a Difference

  • We inform other children in the school about what is happening across the globe
  • We promote good causes and inform others about how we can protect our planet based on news stories that we see
  • We create articles for our school newsletter to inform others of global issues which we see to be relevant and interesting
