Incredible BMX trip to the Olympic Park
This month, each of the Year Four classes went to BMX track at Lee Valley Velopark that hosted the cycling competitions at the London 2012 Olympic games.
It was an incredibly exciting trip and the first time that many of the children were able to ride on a real BMX track.
Each child was given a specially designed BMX helmet and were taught about the special features of these bikes. They were able to stand on the starting blocks of where professional racers start competitions and get a complete overview of the track. Soon the children couldn’t wait any longer; it was time to start riding!
After a short period of time practising and getting used to the bikes, the children were taken to a double hill. Many of them were nervous about riding across this but after being encouraged by their teachers, the instructors and their friends, they were brave enough to give it a go. Of course, after this they wanted to go again and again. It was a fantastic day out and enjoyed by all.
