Churchfields’ glorious Road to Wembley continues…
Churchfields’ glorious Road to Wembley continues as the boys produced some fantastic football at the Regional Rounds of the National League Trust’s Kids Cup at Borehamwood F.C.
The format was to play the same team twice in a group of three. Churchfields played Hemel Hempstead winning 4-0 and 5-1 and Braintree Town, winning 4-0 and 3-0.
This set up a semi-final against St. Albans and we eased through with a 1-0 win. Our opponents in the Final were Dagenham and Redbridge, who like ourselves, had outclassed our opposition in the group stages.
The boys dominated and had the majority of possession, creating numerous
chances, but as the final whistle went, the score stood at 0-0. This could now only mean one thing: three spot kicks to be taken by each team.
Composure, ball placement and nerves of steel were what was required. The team slotted each penalty sweetly in to the back of the net, and our opponents last penalty was saved superbly!
Congratulations to the boys who are one step closer to the dream of playing at Wembley.
